Spring is one of the best seasons to travel—temperatures are warming up, destinations feel alive again after winter, and there are amazing deals on flights and hotels. However, packing for spring can be tricky with unpredictable weather and varying temperatures. This guide will help you figure out what to pack for spring in Europe, helping you stay stylish, comfortable, and prepared for any destination.

Tips For Packing in the Spring
- Layering: Layering is essential for the fluctuating temperatures of Europe in the spring.
- Stick to a Color Palette: Choose neutral or complementary colors to mix and match easily. In this guide I stuck to browns, black, and pops of blue to style things in a cohesive way.
- Prioritize Versatility: Pick pieces that can be styled multiple ways.
- Check the Weather Forecast: Since spring can be very unpredictable, always be prepared by checking the weather before you pack—and even the night before too!
- Pack Smart: Use packing cubes to stay organized and make the most of your luggage space. To leave room for souvenirs (or more shopping lol) I wear my trench coat, a pair of jeans, and tennis shoes while traveling to free up space in my suitcase.
What Exactly to Pack for Spring in Europe
Here are the items that should be in every spring travelers suitcase! I share loads of items down below in my closet, but for each item listed, I link two of my very own favorite items! Normally one is cheaper and one is on the higher end side.
Trench | A classic trench coat is the perfect lightweight outerwear option for spring. It keeps you warm on cooler days, protects against unexpected rain, and adds effortless elegance to any outfit. Look One | Look Two
White Button-Down | A crisp white button-down is a versatile staple that can be worn casually with jeans or dressed up with trousers or a skirt. It’s breathable and layers well under sweaters or jackets. Look One | Look Two
Sweater | A sweater is ideal for layering. It provides warmth without being bulky, making it perfect for those unpredictable spring days and cool evenings. You can layer it over your shoulders, or over a collared shirt for a chic look. Look One | Look Two
Black Trousers | A pair of tailored black trousers is a must-have for a polished yet comfortable travel outfit. They can be worn casually with sneakers or dressed up with ballet flats for a chic dinner look. Look One | Look Two
Blue Jeans | A great pair of blue jeans is essential for spring travel. Opt for a relaxed straight-leg or wide-leg style that pairs well with sneakers, flats, or boots. Look One | Look Two
White Pants | White pants instantly elevate any outfit and look fresh for spring. Plus, love white jeans for a chic, yet casual look on sightseeing days especially. Look One | Look Two
Denim Dress (or Any Dress) | A denim dress is a versatile, comfortable option that works for sightseeing, dining, and everything in between. Alternatively, a floral or solid-colored dress is a great choice for spring. Option two shares my favorite brown dress. Look One | Look Two
White T-Shirt | A simple white t-shirt is a travel essential. Wear it alone on warm days, or layer it under a blazer, sweater, or trench coat for effortless styling. Look One | Look Two (Under $10!)
Ballet Flats | Ballet flats are a chic and comfortable alternative to sneakers. Not to mention, they’re easy to pack, work well for both casual and dressy style, and add a touch of elegance to any outfit. This pair in brown are so perfect! Look One | Look Two
If you are going to buy a new pair of ballet flats, I highly suggest breaking them in a bit before a big trip. That way, you can avoid discomfort! Both of these pairs I’ve linked I personally love, but everyone’s feet are different, and I don’t want you to get blisters! No matter what, new shoes, old shoes I ALWAYS pack these blister patches.
Trendy Tennis Shoes | A pair of stylish, supportive sneakers is crucial for long days of exploring. Choose a neutral pair that pairs well with all your outfits. Look One | Look Two
Accessories | These are items you can add to any outfit to create more dimension, mix up your looks, and feel super chic:
- Gold Necklace
- Chunky Hoops with Diamonds (Under $80!)
- Brown Crossbody Bag
- Belt
- Black Crossbody Bag
- Sunglasses
- Silk Scarf
