I don’t know about you, but time is flying lately! My husband and I were talking about our summer plans this morning, and I had this weird feeling like… summer hasn’t really started yet, but it’s somehow already almost over? In an effort to stay present, and not let all the good moments blur together, I’m bringing back a little life update here on the blog!
This week’s roundup includes a hike in Switzerland you’ll definitely want to add to your list (plus paraglider views!), a few meals we loved, a casual Sunday trip across the German border, and one of our favorite local breweries that’s always worth a stop.
If you’re visiting and want a local perspective on the Switzerland lifestyle (or just love seeing how people spend their weekends abroad), I think you’ll enjoy this one.

A little recap just in case you are new here, and if so, hi hi! I am so glad you are here. Each week (starting again now, hold me accountable please!), I share moments from my week-pieces I’m adding to my wardrobe, new beauty finds, what I’m eating or meal prepping, and everything else that feels worth sharing. These will eventually move to Substack, but for now we will keep it all on the blog.

Hiking in Switzerland | We love to hike and now that my back is feeling better and the weather is slowly improving we are ready to jump back into hiking. I have to say, while hiking here is amazing, I 100% think that no hikes can compare to the PNW or hiking in Canada. There are hikes with great views here, but nothing comes close to hiking Mt. Raniner or don’t even get me started on Banff. Or omg! Hiking the Grand Canyon! That will always be a favorite of mine. If you want to see a hike post on this part of the world, let me know in the comments!
Well, back to this, Saturday morning, we drove to the start of the Chli Aubrig hike via Euthal – Chrummflue. It was incredibly hard, but the views were wild-you get a perfect look over Sihlsee. What was super cool was once we got to the top you could watch paragliders taking off! This was in the top five hikes in Switzerland for us so far.

What I Am Reading | My husband and I have been having a lot of talk about life, the future, and our creativity and passions, and screen time and social media-really doesn’t play a role. I find myself in an energy and creative suck whenever I scroll on my phone, so I am determined to limit that and add in more reading. So I’ve been looking into getting a Kindle because books here are super expensive and I struggle to get my hands on the books I want to read in English (you probably don’t hear people talking about that when they talk about liven abroad right?). Anyways, I’ve already hooked up my old Portland, Oregon library card with Libby and am loving it so far! I am using it on my ancient iPad currently lol, and ready to move it over to Kindle. I am currently reading ‘Demon Copperhead‘ by Barbara Kingsolver and am intrigued by it so far! It’s not the typical fiction beach read I normally turn to, but love the perspective and tone thus far. If you have a reading tablet, which one do you have and love?
Meals We Loved | We’ve been prepping for trying to conceive for the last year, and while we are ready to start trying this summer (now that I am feeling much better about my back), we’ve been even more intentional about what we have been eating over the last few months. If you want to know more about what my husband and I have been doing, supplements we are taking, etc, let me know in the comments! Having a background in health and nutrition makes a lot of this easier and I feel so empowered in the process. But a few things in particulars that we are honing in on right now is eating more protein, lots of fruits and veggies, organ meats, eggs and fish! We’ve made Anthony Bourdain’s bolognese with fresh liver and ground beef from our farmers market and it’s 100% my new comfort meal. Check out the recipe here! A few other meals we made this week were:

Day Trip to Konstanz | On Sunday, we took a quick trip to Konstanz, a German town just across the border (a little over an hour drive away for us). It’s an easy day trip and honestly kind of underrated. We walked around the old town, popped into a couple shops, and had a fabulous lunch at Ill Boccone before heading back.

The BEST Brewery in Switzerland | While we aren’t drinking much anymore, we still love a fabulous beer every now and then. I’ve shared my favorite beer spots in the Zurich area last year, check it out here. But my top is always Bier Factory in Rapperswil. It’s a very low-key place that makes beer with actual flavor! Anyways, they had an open door event with music, food and fresh beer and it was a blast.

Whenever we go to Bier Factory we grab burgers from Diamond Burger in Rapperswil and it’s HANDS DOWN the best burger in Zurich (maybe all of Switzerland?). They make smash burgers that are perfection, as well as onion rings that I simply cannot get enough of.
Links Worth Sharing | A few other things I love this week that I think you will too.
- Everlane’s summer collection has dropped and it’s currently at 25% off! I squealed when I first browsed it. The colors and styles are perfection and I honestly just need it all. This dress is screaming my name for our next trip to Portugal, and this smocked tank top and pleated shorts are going to be my first order.
- This small crossbody bucket bag for days exploring the city looks chic and so cute.
- You all know Teva’s are my favorite summer travel shoe and the Olsen Twins have been spotted wearing these ones so of course they will sell out ASAP. They are super cute and the reviews are great! I just need to get my hands on a pair.
That’s all for this week! Thanks for being here and can’t wait for the next recap.
