10 Amazon Postpartum Essentials You Actually Need

After watching TikTok videos and filling my bedside nursing cart, only to not use half of the items, I thought I would share with you the 10 Amazon postpartum essentials I actually used, loved, and honestly couldn’t live without after giving birth.

17 days postpartum with our little girl and slowly figuring things out.

To be honest I had no clue what I would really need postpartum. Everyone I seemed to talk to was just buying what they saw some influencer mommy sharing online, and thus, that’s what I did too.

It was frustrating though because after my delivery (I had a vaginal, unmediated birth) I was left with a postpartum cart of items I didn’t actually need. And the things I did need, I didn’t have and had to panic order from Amazon. I only realized after, how easy to get swept up in trendy items you see online, but what seems to be left out is a lot of the “unglamorous” items that *actually* make a difference.

So, after navigating the fourth trimester (yay for 3 months postpartum!) I learned quickly that you don’t need a mountain of recovery supplies. You just need a few high-quality, reliable staples that make those early weeks softer, easier, and more comfortable. Here are the 10 Amazon postpartum essentials that truly made a difference for me!

10 Amazon Postpartum Essentials

Medela Nursing Pads (Totally Leak-Proof!)

The leaking phase catches you completely off guard and feels really messy (literally and figuratively) at first. I tried a few different brands, but the Medela Nursing Pads were the absolute winners. They are breathable, stay securely in place without bunching up in your bra, and most importantly, they are genuinely leak-proof (even overnight and for those with a very strong letdown). I suggest stocking up on a couple of boxes before baby arrives.

Rael Period Underwear

This one is a personal preference but I hated the hospital and Frida underwear, and instead LOVED the Rael period underwear! They are super soft and discreet, and made from organic cotton which is so important when your body is sensitive and healing down there. They didn’t make me feel gross and give you total peace of mind against leaks without feeling clinical or bulky.

Rael Organic Cotton Period Pads

Once my bleeding calmed down and I was feeling a little more healed, I swapped the underwear for the Rael period pads overnight version. They are made with organic cotton just like the underwear and are super absorbent, free of harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances, and won’t irritate your skin during the peak recovery weeks. They also have small leak proof panty liners that I loved after my bleeding subsided.

Momanda Nursing Bras

Comfort is the only requirement when you are recovering from birth and nursing around the clock (and suddenly wearing a bra 24/7 — when was someone going to tell me that?!). The Momanda Nursing Bras strike the perfect balance between wireless comfort, gentle support, and easy one-handed clips for feeding. They don’t dig into your ribs, and they look smooth under everyday lounge clothes. Plus they wash and dry super quick and easy!

Silverettes Nursing Cups

If I could buy every new mom one luxury item, it would be Silverettes. Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey, but those first days, even weeks for some, can be painful. These little silver cups work like magic (literally!) to prevent, soothe, and heal sore, cracked nipples naturally using breast milk and the natural antimicrobial properties of silver. These healed my sore, cracked nipples in just a day and I never had an issue again. They are worth every single penny (I promise) and you can buy yours here!

Ultra-Soft Button-Down Pajama Sets

In the first few weeks, you will practically live in pajamas. Button-down sets like these make middle-of-the-night skin-to-skin and breastfeeding completely effortless, while still making you feel put-together when that’s what you end up wearing all day long.

Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads

A classic for a reason. Tucks Pads provide instant, soothing relief for postpartum swelling and hemorrhoids. Keep a jar right next to your toilet (or make your own “padsicles” in the freezer). They are a non-negotiable part of any realistic postpartum care kit. If you are wanting to choose between Tucks and any kind of healing spray, just get the Tucks.

Owala FreeSip Water Bottle

Hydration is no joke when you are breastfeeding, the thirst hits you like a truck out of nowhere. Any water bottle will do but I love the Owala because of its FreeSip spout, which lets you either sip upright or swig through the built-in straw. Plus, it opens with one hand, which is crucial when you are holding a sleeping baby in your other arm.

Electrolyte Hydration Packets

Plain water doesn’t always cut it when your body is recovering and producing milk. Dropping a low-sugar electrolyte packet into your water bottle once a day helps keep your energy up and prevents postpartum headaches. I love brands Ulitma or Trace Minerals electrolytes for some extra vitamin c!

Gel Ice/Heat Packs for Postpartum & Breastfeeding

This was one I NEVER heard anyone talking about, but was essential for me when my milk was coming in (I had no idea how painful it would be!). I loved these ones, but simply look for contoured packs that can be frozen for inflammation or microwaved for quick letdown relief. They help so much!

I feel like I could write about motherhood essentials all day, and plan to share so many more of my favorites with you all here, but for now these are the items I would have on hand first. They are the essentials, but there are a lot of other I love too so stay tuned!
