Twelve of The Best Bars in Zurich, Switzerland

There is no shortage of bars in Zurich, but that can make it hard to decide where to go. I’ve been to dozens of bars in the city and pulled together 12 of the best bars in Zurich to give you a good starting point for your night out. From cozy lounges to trendy cocktail spots (+ a brewery for my beer lovers), I’ve rounded up the top twelve best bars in Zurich where you can sip, savor, and socialize.

Zurich’s Bar Scene

When it comes to discussing food and drink in Zurich, I tend to be a bit of a pessimist. Despite being a small city, there’s a lot of hype around certain places. I’ve noticed that people here can be quite opinionated about their drink spots, often opting for places that are “popular” or “trending” rather than those that actually serve great drinks. Bars and restaurants (and cafes, for that matter) are frequently praised for their aesthetics rather than the quality of their food or beverages.

Here at Linds Alyse, I focus on sharing spots I’ve personally visited and genuinely enjoyed. My reviews are based on real experiences and honest ratings, not just on how Instagram-worthy a place might be.

  1. Service: If I don’t get kind, attentive service, it does NOT get posted here on my blog.
  2. Taste/Quality: The food has to be exceptional, and the drinks have to make me melt in my chair. If not, we aren’t going to talk about it.
  3. Atmosphere: I want to sit at a nice table or bar, not be *totally* crammed into a table (which, to be honest, can be hard to find here), and have a nice ambiance.
  4. Price: With EVERYTHING being expensive in the heart of Zurich, it’s got to be worth the price, and when the above criteria are met, to me, it justifies the price.

12 of the Best Bars in Zurich (Zurich Bar Guide)

Each of these bars offers something unique, whether it’s a signature cocktail, a friendly atmosphere, or a stunning view. So, whether you’re a local or just visiting, these spots are sure to become your new go-to places for a perfect drink!

Bar #12. Tales Bar

Address: Selnaustrasse 29, 8001 Zürich

Tales Bar is a unique gem nestled in the heart of the city, featuring a storybook-style cocktail menu that’s as intriguing as it sounds. This place is all about passion for mixology, with bartenders who truly love what they do. Whether you’re craving a classic cocktail or feeling adventurous, they’re ready to whip up something special just for you. The first time I visited, the extensive menu felt a bit overwhelming, but the knowledgeable waitstaff guided me to not one, but two cocktails that I absolutely loved! Tales Bar is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed evening with drinks that tell a story.

Bar #11. Bar am Wasser

Address: Stadthausquai 1, 8001 Zürich

Tucked away on a side street where luxury cars line the pavement, Bar am Wasser might seem a bit intimidating at first with its upscale vibe, but don’t let that fool you—this place is a true gem. The sleek design and stunning river views create a serene, sophisticated ambiance that’s perfect for any night out. The bartenders here are masters of their craft, whipping up impressive cocktails with top-shelf spirits and fresh ingredients. Despite the fancy appearance, the staff are super friendly and always ready to help you pick the perfect drink. Bar am Wasser’s main bar is absolutely worth seeing, and the warm and inviting vibe makes it a perfect spot for an evening drink.

Drink Tip: They are open Monday-Saturday and don’t take reservations, so bear in mind you might have a wait (but it’s worth it).

Bar #10. Gamper Bar

Address: Dienerstrasse 75, 8004 Zürich

Gamper Bar is a cozy spot with a minimalist vibe, known for its natural wine. It’s chic and stylish, and is the ideal spot for a pre-dinner drink or a girls’ night out. Gamper Bar is a spot that’s both trendy, but not pretentious, which in Zurich can be hard to find + they have snacks which I always love with a glass of wine.

Drink Tip: They typically have a variety of orange wines that you must try! Also make sure to order some snacks – their mussels, mushrooms & (not pictured) Tête de Moine is amazing!

Bar #9. Old Crow

Address: Schwanengasse 4, 8001 Zürich

Old Crow is a must-visit for whiskey lovers and a spot that boats about its collection of over 1,500 different spirits. It’s a very warm, and intimate atmosphere that makes it perfect for a laid-back winter evening. They’ve been featured a lot lately in a variety of Zurich guides so it might be busier than usual, but it’s a really cool spot that should definitely be on your list.

old crow bar is known for it's massive whiskey selection and is one of the best bars in Zurich.

Drink Tip: If you like gin the ‘Ford cocktail’ is one of my favorites. For my whiskey lovers I suggest their Boulevardier or the ‘Scotsman’, which is a hot cocktail to warm up after a cold day in the city!

Bar #8. Bar Lupo

Address: Badenerstrasse 155, 8004 Zürich

Bar Lupo is one of my favorite spots for not only delicious cocktails and wines, but also amazing food! It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the city. They don’t take reservations, but you can normally snag a cozy seat inside, or they have a new covered backyard area as well.

Bar #7. Raygrodski

Address: Sihlfeldstrasse 49, 8003 Zürich | Creative cocktail bar

Raygrodski is a chic bar with a great atmosphere and fantastic cocktails. It’s one of the few places where you’ll be greeted by the bar tenders with a fantastic welcome. Raygrodski is a good spot for an after-work hangout or post-dinner drinks. I also think it’s super cozy, which if you are sensing a theme, I love a cozy spot.

Drink Tip: The drinks here are awesome, from the Negroni to Old Fashioned, you’ll be pleased. If you want to venture out of the box, and love an espresso martini, you should try their Black Negroni, it’s excellent.

Bar #6. BIERlab

Address: Grüngasse 7, 8004 Zürich | Craftbeer pub

BIERlab is an experimental brewery offering innovative and delicious beers in a modern setting. I’ve talked about this spot before, but honestly had to include it here because it’s one of my favorite spots for beer in the city. It’s an easy going place, perfect to meet up with your friends on a weekend. If you are a beer lover, you should check out my blog post on the best breweries in Zurich (the ultimate beer guide!).

Bar #5. Bar Le Philosphe

Address: Nägelihof 3, 8001 Zürich

If you’re looking for a relaxed afternoon cocktail or evening drink after exploring Niederdorf, Le Philosphe is the place to go. It’s nestled in a little side street that you’ve probably walked past a dozen times, but never truly noticed. The service is excellent, the bartenders are knowledge and the cosmo is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Bar #4. Kasheme

Address: Neugasse 56, 8005 Zürich

Kasheme is a vibrant cocktail (and vinyl) bar that will leave you wondering how the heck a place this cool is actually in Zurich. There’s a lot going on inside – with multiple floors, bars, plus an epic dance room. However, it somehow combines a laid-back atmosphere with an impressive drink menu and awesome music. It’s a perfect spot to meet up with friends, listen to great music, and if you fancy dancing, you can party the night away. Be sure to check out their website before you go to see what’s happening next!

A cozy, lounge-style bar with plush seating, warm lighting, and a relaxed ambiance. A couple enjoys drinks while surrounded by retro-inspired decor and a lively yet intimate atmosphere.

Drink Tip: Their cocktails are innovative and delicious, and probably contain things you’ve never heard of – one I love is the Hombre Sandia!

Bar #3. Dalí’s Bar

Address: Meinrad-Lienert-Strasse 17, 8003 Zürich

Right around the corner from Raygrodski which I talked about earlier, is Dali. It’s another spot that is super chill, and in an area of town that skips the pretentious vibe, and feels just perfect. It’s a fantastic spot for late-night outings (we love to go here post-dinner).

Bar #2. Late Bloomers

Address: Dienerstrasse 20, 8004 Zürich | Cocktail bar

Late Bloomers is a hidden gem with a relaxed, friendly vibe and great cocktails. The bartenders are super approachable and love to chat about their craft, so don’t hesitate to ask for drink recommendations based on your taste. They also have live music on the weekends! You can check it out here.

Bar #1. Widder Bar

Address: Widdergasse 6, 8001 Zürich

For a touch of sophistication and that true “Zurich” fell, you’ve got to check out Widder Bar. Nestled in the charming Widder Hotel, this bar has a cozy yet sophisticated vibe that’s perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a special date night. The talented bartenders craft everything from classic martinis to unique, creative cocktails, so you’re bound to find something that hits the spot. The walls are lined with whiskies and you might just find something new you love.

Widder Bar is iconic and one of the best bars in Zurich

Drink Tip: At Widder Bar you’ll also get some nuts and snacks which are excellent, and you can order a few bar food things (we ordered fries after a long day at Christmas Markets!
