Summer is in full swing in Zurich and with only two real months of summer weather, it’s time to take full advantage of it! This list shares events this summer in Zurich you should check out.

I’ve talked about this here on my blog before, as well as over on my Substack – for an English speaker especially, it’s incredibly hard to find things to do in Zurich. Advertising is non-existent and you have to know the right sites to figure out what’s happening, but again, those are often not in English anyways. If you head over to TikTok you’ll see a million Zurich posts but 9/10 fail to share the location, or promote things ahead of time. So, that’s why I created this blog post, you one stop shop for a list of summer events in Zurich this summer!

Summer Events in Zurich 2024
From lazy lakeside afternoons to lively street festivals, there’s always something going on. Whether you’re into films, music, culture, or just looking for a good time, Zurich has a lineup of events that will make your summer unforgettable. Here’s my roundup of the summer events in Zurich for 2024.
Zurich Open-Air Cinema
What it is: Allianz sets up a stunning outdoor cinema by Lake Zurich, offering a month-long series of film screenings under the stars. Enjoy a mix of classic movies and the latest blockbusters in a relaxed, lakeside setting.
When: July 18 – August 18
Where: Bellerivestrasse 170, 8008 Zürich
Tip: You HAVE to buy your tickets in advance as they often sell out. Check out the schedule and pick a night or two you want to go!
Street Parade
What it is: One of the world’s largest techno parades, the Street Parade features colorful floats, pulsating electronic music, and an energetic crowd dancing through the streets of Zurich.
When: August 10, from 1pm to midnight.
Where: Start at Utoquai and goes to Hafendamm Enge.
This was 2023 Street Parade that was packed and super fun!
Caliente! Latin Music Festival
What it is: The largest Latin music festival in Switzerland, Caliente! brings the rhythms of salsa, merengue, and reggaeton to Zurich. Enjoy live performances, dance workshops, and there will be loads of delicious Latin American cuisine.
When: July 12-14, times vary each day so check the full schedule here!
Where: Kasernenareal, 8004 Zürich

Zurich Open-Air Festival
What it is: Every August, Zurich hosts the Zürich Openair concert and festival. Spanning two weekends, this event features an impressive lineup of international and local artists. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy live music, experience a local festival, and summer vibe.
When: Two weekends: August 23 – 24, August 30 – 31, times depend on shows.
Where: Flughofstrasse 8152 Glattbrugg (near the airport).
Open-Air City (ZOA City)
What it is: Festival located at the beautiful Dolder Grand Hotel. There are various different performers throughout June and July – Hozier was there in July!
When: Dates all throughout June and July! Times vary starting at 2pm.
Where: Dolder Grand Hotel, in the ice skating arena. They describe the location here (but unfortunately still don’t give an address).
I will say, this is a great example of the lack of advertising in Zurich. I’ve seen NOTHING about this posted or advertised even on social media – but what a fun event right? I luckily was told about this by my acupuncturist who is a local! Their website doesn’t give a lot of info, but you can check it out here.
Openair Frauenfeld
What it is: Just a short trip from Zurich, this is Europe’s largest hip-hop festival. It features a star-studded lineup of international rap and hip-hop artists, attracting fans from across the world. They even have ‘glamping’!
When: July 11-13
Where: Frauenfeld, Switzerland

Ironman Zurich
What it is: This challenging triathlon event draws athletes from around the world. The course includes swimming in Lake Zurich, biking through the Swiss countryside, and running through the city. Even if you don’t plan to race, it’s still a fun even to have a look at and cheer the athletes on!
When: July 21
Where: Walter Denzler-Strasse 4, 8640 Rapperswil-Jona
Rundfunk.fm
What it is: A pop-up radio station that broadcasts live from the Landesmuseum, Rundfunk.fm features live DJ sets, electronic music, and an eclectic mix of genres. The unique setting and the opportunity to enjoy live music in a historic location. They have a ton of food stalls and bars as well, so it’s the perfect way to unwind on a summer night!
When: July 26 – September 7, starts daily at 5pm.
Where: Zürich Landesmuseum
Filmfluss
What it is: Movie nights along the river. Check out the full program here!
When: July 10-28, doors open at 8:30pm and movies start at 9:30pm after dark.
Where: Flussbadi Unterer Letten, Wasserwerkstr. 131, 8037 Zurich
Note: Most of the movies are in German, some in English, French and German. Make sure to check the schedule before you go!
Zurich Art Weekend
What it is: In a celebration of contemporary art, Zurich Art Weekend features exhibitions, gallery openings, and artist talks all across the city! It’s a fantastic opportunity to explore Zurich’s vibrant art scene, and check out some places you’ve probably never been. You’ll get exclusive access to some of the city’s top galleries and the chance to meet artists and curators.
When: July 7 – 9

Blues’n’jazz Rapperswil-Jona
Description: Set in the picturesque town of Rapperswil-Jona, this festival brings together blues and jazz musicians from around the world. Enjoy live performances by the lake with a backdrop of stunning medieval architecture.
When: July 13 – 15
Where: Located in the center of Rapperswill – exit via the ‘Rapperswil’ train stop.
Seenachtfest Rapperswil-Jona
What it is: This lakeside festival features live music, food stalls, and a spectacular fireworks display. It’s a fun-filled weekend for families and friends in the charming town of Rapperswil-Jona. They even have a zipline!
When: August 9 – 11, times vary for each day so check the schedules here!
Where: Fischmarktplatz 1, Rapperswil, Switzerland 8640
Dörflifäscht
Description: A lively street festival in Zurich’s Old Town, Dörflifäscht offers live music, food and drink stalls, and various entertainment. It’s a great way to experience the local culture, the beautiful buildings, and enjoy a festive atmosphere.
When: August 23-25,
Where: In Niederdorf.
