Week 21 flew by (per usual), but it felt a little messy, a lot emotional, and maybe like some clarity is just around the corner. But frankly I feel too tired to know for sure right now, but let’s chat about it anyways.

This week was…busy. Which honestly, I don’t mind since most weeks are pretty low-key over here. The big event that I had built a lot of anticipation around was, I had two cortisone injections scheduled for my back on Friday to (finally) figure out the root of my pain-and hopefully get some pain relief too. With this lead up, I had a big like post-workup emotional let down (I think other empaths here might know this feeling). So, I cried most of Friday and Saturday. And it wasn’t from pain, but because I’ve spent the last 5 weeks waiting for this appointment, hoping it would work, and I think the shots might have? I’m finishing this post up today and truly feeling the best I’ve felt in months, but we will know for sure in the next few days. I’ve had a handful of injections over the last two years (none of which helped), so I’m cautiously optimistic-but feeling like a huge weight might finally be lifted.
But, as always, the week also brought up a lot of questions. Mostly around social media which is so annoying! I swear, I talk about it way more than I’d like-but having a blog and an online presence without heavily relying on social media can be tricky. I get so drained from it, yet still struggle with the “shoulds” and “what ifs.”
I binge-watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Season 2 (more on that below), and it weirdly brought that up again. This idea of how social media can be so fruitful, and how it could make you ‘rich’. I’m not financially driven by any means, but it does make me wonder: could I grow my blog faster if I leaned into it more? It’s kind of like this open door feeling. Am I just not capitalizing on something that’s already there? Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a few videos go viral and I know good and well that doesn’t mean much contrary to what many think. Viral status doesn’t equal a lot. But it’s a weird headspace and it takes up more of my thinking time than I’d like. And in effort to free my mind, I thought I would share that will you here too.
Anyway, enough rambling-let’s get into the fun stuff. Photos are all at the end!
Spring Makeup | I grabbed a few things in a sale last week (there’s always a sale right?), and I am SO GLAD I DID! These are my new favorite makeup products. I had my eye on this YSL blush since it came out, but couldn’t get my hands on color 93. I finally found and it’s immediately replacing all my other blushes. The formula is amazing and it doesn’t seem to settle into any lines or pores. I also finally grabbed the beloved Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and I have no clue how I held off on it for so long! I love my Ilia concealer, but felt like the color wasn’t right anymore, so I asked ChatGPT for a color analysis and she (she’s a girl right?), picked custard and it’s spot on match! I am obsessed with the coverage and the formula. I shared those in my recent blog post here too! Read it here.
What I Watched | In case you skimmed the above text (rude lol) I am sharing this here too. I binge watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 2 on Netflix and it’s honestly such a good “reality” tv show. I grew up in an area of California with a lot of Mormons and am always fascinated by their rules and justifications of the choice they make (like how Ketamine is somehow is allowed, but caffeine and alcohol isn’t). It’s a good one and I can’t wait for season 3.
Dinner at a Zurich (technically outside the city limit) Favorite! | My favorite restaurant for view + food + wine + and an atmosphere that is so laid back and welcoming, is Mönchhof am See. If you visit Zurich and have a car, make sure to make a stop over here and thank me later.
The BEST MDW Sales | Currently writing this from bed post-cortisone shot, which means I fully give myself permission to online shop as a form of recovery. And lucky for me (and you) it’s Memorial Day in the U.S., which means sales galore and most of these brands ship internationally. Here’s what I’m eyeing:
- 25% off Brooklinen Bedding: This is the only place we shop for bedding and they might ship to Switzerland, but I am a little scared of the duties and taxes, so instead I am shipping a few things to my parents to bring when they visit! Their Sateen and Percale bedding are literally the best and I am stocking up on white pillow cases as we speak! Shop here!
- 25% off Everlane: You know this is my favorite store because the quality literally cannot be beat. Their entire new summer collection is on sale and my cart is filled with simple tops like this white thank, this knitted baby blue sweater, this button down, and this dress!
- Ulta: There are a lot of sales going on here, here’s what I would buy if I was in the U.S // spf 50+ cc cream // all nighter makeup setting spray // this barrier cream (the best for dry, flaky skin!) // my favorite tanning lotion!
Best Bakery in Zurich | My personal favorite bakery in Zurich is Moon Bakery. It’s an entirely plant-based bakery and they make the BEST cinnamon rolls I’ve had in Switzerland. We treated ourselves to one of everything after my shot (because adults get treats for being brave too right?) and they never disappoint.
Meals of the Week | I think this was the first week (ever?) that everything I planned to make, I actually did! All recipe are from my favorite cookbook, Ottolenghi Test Kitchen: Shelf Love.
- Cobb Salad: If you’ve never had salad with crispy prosciutto, be prepared for your life to change. This salad is the literal best, and you’ll want to make it for every summer bbq. I don’t always have mango on hand so instead I serve this with either the viral green goddess dressing or my homemade caesar. If you want that recipe leave a comment and I will share it !
- Burnt Eggplant, Tomato and Tahini: I’ve never made this recipe before but it’s a new staple. It’s warming, super easy, and incredibly versatile. I left the tahini out because I don’t love that, and added in diced tempeh to the spice seasoning for some protein. I topped in on rice and it was the perfect, complete meal!
- Cream of Tomato Soup with Buttery Onions: My husband actually made this one for me for my recovery night with grilled cheeses and nothing gets better than this. We make this tomato soup all the time and honestly, it will never make you want it from the can again. It’s just too good and so simple.
Here’s everything recapped in photo form!

That’s all for this week’s roundup! Let me know what you’re shopping, cooking, or watching-especially if you’ve got a summer makeup rec I need to try. 💌
